A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technological University has no prolonged history. Its earlier name was Kerala Technological University-KTU.  KTU is established by the state government of Kerala on 21 may 2014. This university's main administrative control office is located at Thiruvananthapuram. After the death of former President of India and great nuclear scientist Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, to honour Dr. Kalam, the Kerala government took decision to change the university name from Kerala Technological University to A P J Abdul Kalam Technological University.
